Singapore Airlines (SIA) is one of the world’s best and most respected international airlines. Over the decades, it has built a reputation for world-class service, safety, and an all-round outstanding experience for paying customers.

Along with SIA’s low-cost carrier, Scoot, the two offer a variety of routes to global as well as regional destinations. Recently, SIA announced that it would be offering over 420,000 discounted tickets to its customers from 25 October.

Aptly named “Time to Fly”, these tickets will be available for purchase at a three-day travel fair at Suntec City from 25 October to 27 October, as well as online. For those who have “wanderlust” and are looking at destinations for your next overseas trip, here are three things you need to know about these discounted tickets before you go ahead and purchase them.

#1 Available Only For Selected Flights

As with any discount when it comes to airline tickets, we need to ensure we read the fine print and understand which destinations are eligible and the travel period that applies to the Time to Fly promotion.

Often, many travel discount deals – including the KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes programme – have “blackout” dates when you can’t travel.

On the SIA side, the flagship carrier will be offering discount tickets to 78 global destinations in Southeast Asia, North Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe and America. They including new routes like Brussels and London’s Gatwick Airport – from $968. Other upcoming routes, such as Beijing’s Daxing International Airport (from $368), are also set to be available.

For Scoot, the discounted tickets will cover 57 flight routes that are more regional in nature – across the Asia-Pacific region (but also some in Europe) and will include new destinations like Kertajati in Indonesia and Thailand’s Koh Samui.

#2 Slightly More Scoot Tickets Available

In terms of the breakdown of the 420,000 discounted tickets up for grabs, Scoot will provide slightly more than SIA. Scoot will sell 220,000 discounted tickets for its Economy and ScootPlus classes. Meanwhile, SIA be selling 200,000 discounted tickets across its Economy, Premium Economy, and Business classes.

The discounted Scoot tickets will be for travel from November 2024 to October 2025 while SIA’s tickets will be valid for travel from January to September 2025 – meaning Scoot’s discounted tickets will be eligible for travel a full two months before SIA’s discounted tickets and will also have an extra month of eligibility in 2025.

#3 Ticket Sales At Physical Fair And Online

SIA announced that these tickets would be on sale at its three-day travel fair – Time to Fly – that is being hosted at Suntec City’s Convention and Exhibition Centre’s Halls 401 and 402 from Friday 25 October to Sunday 27 October 2024.

The Time to Fly fair will feature these discounted tickets as well as exclusive travel deals from travel agents and partners. Additionally, there’ll be other prizes up for grabs, via lucky draw, including SIA Business class tickets (with hotel stays) to Bangkok, Male, and Phuket.

For those attending the annual fair, the grand lucky draw prize is three pairs of SIA Business Class round-trip tickets with hotel accommodation to Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Istanbul, as well as Scoot vouchers worth up to $5,000.

However, even if you’re not attending the fair in person, you’ll be able to get your hands on these discounted tickets. That’s because SIA will be selling them online from 25 October too, with the sale ongoing all the way up to Thursday 7 November.

Watch Out For Great Travel Deals

As with any holiday planning, ensuring we can get the best deals on flights is an important component to saving money by planning ahead of time.

With the latest discounted tickets on offer by SIA and Scoot, travellers in Singapore can be on the lookout for great deals to global and regional destinations that both airlines serve. Be sure to know whether where you’re planning to fly is in included in the discounted tickets sale and get ready to book when 25 October comes around.
