Genting Highlands, an integrated entertainment location featuring the only casino in the country and attractions such as shopping malls, outdoor and indoor theme parks, is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Malaysia.
With seven hotels and several theme parks including an outdoor theme park built across 26 acres of land, many travellers will plan for overnight trips to cover the attractions in Genting Highlands. This can be quite costly, especially when you’re bringing your entire family.
Fortunately, there are some ways to trim down the costs with these tips when you visit Genting Highlands.

#1 Buy Your Theme Park Tickets Online
A highlight attraction in Genting Highlands is the outdoor Genting Skyworlds theme park. The park offers 26 rides across themed worlds such as the Night at the Museum’s 3D interactive ride, Ice Age expedition ride, Rio’s hang glider and Andromeda Base’s tower of terror.
You can purchase 1-day tickets with multiple entries to the Genting Skyworlds theme park. Ticket prices displayed on the theme park’s website are valid from 1 January to 30 September 2024. All tickets also come with three free Virtual Queue (VQ) reservations where you can pre-book your rides or shows on the Genting Skyworlds app so you don’t have to physically queue for them at the theme park.
Visitors who buy 1-day tickets online get to enjoy lower rates and save up to RM90 per person compared to walk-in purchases so you can save a significant amount just by planning ahead.
Additionally, tickets bought for low season also cost less than tickets bought during peak period such as the weekends. Low season includes any day from Sunday to Thursday while peak season comprises of Fridays, Saturdays, eve of public holidays and public holidays.
Visitors with a Malaysian identification card MyKad also get to enjoy a lower price compared to foreign tourists.

#2 Check Website For Promotions
There are also promotions for visitors who buy tickets in bulk or combo packages for several theme parks.
The Buy More Save More Combo allows visitors who buy more tickets to enjoy a cheaper ticket price. For example, visitors can get 9 standard tickets at a lumpsum price of RM873 on a low season day and RM1,143 on a peak season date. This means that 1 ticket comes at a price of RM97 and RM127 respectively, which is cheaper than the regular tickets.
If you only have a day to explore, you can also get the 1 Day 2 Parks combo standard package at RM159 and RM189 for low and peak seasons. For this price, you get a 1-day unlimited entry to two parks, which are the Genting Skyworlds outdoor park and the Skytropolis indoor theme park which includes more than 20 rides.
#3 Compare Ticket Prices On Online Platforms
You can also survey ticket prices for Genting SkyWorlds theme park on online travel websites such as Klook and KKday.
Sometimes, these sites may have their own promotions and sell tickets that are cheaper than the ones on the Genting SkyWorlds’ website.
#4 Eat And Stay Outside
Like many theme parks, you’re not allowed to bring outside food into the Genting SkyWorlds outdoor theme park. However, your 1-day ticket has unlimited entries so you can always exit the park for your meals and then re-enter again.
You can head to the shopping mall SkyAvenue Complex and grab a snack at convenience stores like 7-Eleven, CU and Family Mart. There are also restaurants and food courts for casual dining such as Zok Noodle House, Malaysian Food Street, Pizza Hut and Nyonya Colours.
As for accommodations, there are plenty of apartments, hotels and homestays available for booking that are more affordable than Genting Highlands’ hotels. However, these properties are situated further from the focal point of Genting Highlands’ entertainment offerings, and you would probably need a car or make your own transport arrangement to travel to the accommodations.
For example, the Grand Ion Delemen apartment, which is situated around 7km from the First World Plaza in Genting Highlands, is available for reservations on Booking.com for RM140 per night in May.
#5 Download The Genting SkyWorlds App
You can download the official Genting SkyWorlds app for free to check out the latest promotions and offers, which could help you plan your trip.
You can also buy tickets on the app, book VQ reservations and check out the map of the theme park.
